Stay in Mount Calang residents

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Residents Calang, Aceh Jaya, fled to Mount Mount Carak Keutapang and so an earthquake measuring 8.5 on the Richter scale occurred on Wednesday (4/11/2012) afternoon. Tonight, residents chose to stay on the mountain for fear of tsunamis occur if there are aftershocks.
Calang citizen, Novita Apriliana, who was contacted from Jakarta, said that he was working in Aceh Jaya district government office in Kuala Meurisi. Novita with local residents then fled to nearby Mountain Keutapang Military District Command Headquarters (Kodim) Aceh Jaya and stay there for an hour.
"Residents returning to the mountains so there is an aftershock. We plan to stay in the family home in Mount Carak tonight. Calang average citizen has not come home," said Novita.
Calang is the capital of Aceh Jaya, which flanked the Indian Ocean and the mountains. The city was devastated during the tsunami on December 26, 2004. It makes people so traumatized they simply leave the city to the mountains so the earthquake struck.
Taufik also experienced panic Yanizar, residents of Meulaboh, West Aceh. Taufik said he was immediately evacuated families from Meulaboh to Kaway District XVI, which is a mountainous region.
Other residents of Meulaboh, Sudirman, was driving from Banda Aceh to Meulaboh. He was in Lhong District, Aceh Besar, which is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, when the earthquake struck.
Sudirman straight back, but stuck in traffic on Jalan Teuku Umar since the Adjunct Jeumpit, Banda Aceh. When the turn of the ring road towards Lampeneurut Lamteumen, Banda Aceh, the traffic is getting crowded.
"I walk up to the intersection of Terminal Batoh. Now, traffic flow is smooth in the region Sibreh, but the power still out," said Sudirman, Wednesday evening.
Residents Langsa, Sosiawan (59), also admitted to a cell phone had trouble contacting his daughter, Ayu Konela (24), in Banda Aceh. Access to the Banda Aceh communication was restored about 1.5 hours later so Sosiawan can determine the condition of the family.
"It's no news to severe physical damage. However, many people panic and flee to higher ground," said Sosiawan contacted by telephone.
In Lhokseumawe, residents also panicked after the earthquake. According to residents Lhokseumawe, Igemuri, people immediately stop work and return home to see their families.
